The Significance of the Vessel We Travel in For Our Life Journey
If appearances ensured a successful journey, we would never have heard the story about the unsinkable Titanic. Our physical body is the container of the life force; it is the vessel we travel in throughout the journey. Like the Titanic, it can appear to be sturdy and strong and yet become a leaky container that allows the life force to slowly drain out, ensuring that our journey will be fraught with unnecessary anguish, pain and failure.
Life would be all too easy if this simply meant we must strive to have beautiful hair and teeth, a stunning smile and a perfectly fit body. In the vessel of life, this is equal to the final paint job before delivery. It has little or no value at all until we ensure that the vessel is sea worthy and able to withstand the perils of the journey.
While our bodies are the vessel, the steering and all the decisions made for the journey happen at a higher level. The decisions made through the mind, the attitude those decisions are met with and the discernment we use to execute the commands that determine whether our journey is successful or not.
We have all seen or experienced a succession of failed attempts at things that are important, at physical injuries that soon become disabilities and at the final bend in the river when all of the resources are depleted and hopelessness sets in. It is a dangerous place for the soul traveling in the vessel to be in. These kinds of experiences make us weary, and weary souls tend to find an exit from the pain; they leave. How does this happen?
Sometimes we are not in control of our destiny. Injuries from accidents, war, illnesses or even decisions made by others beyond our control can alter the course of our life. Regardless of the cause, life has changed, forever. Any significant event in our lives creates a leak, exactly like an accident to a boat. Our vessel is in danger of sinking at that point.
Many brilliant people encounter something completely beyond their control and suddenly the thing they are failing at is as simple as putting a roof over the heads of their family or feeding them. Failure is not an option and yet it is the only result they achieve. The events that caused the 'leak' may be fueled by the pain medications or other outlets taken to escape from unbearable and chronic pain. Soon, addictions or a state of denial have been added to the load the vessel is carrying, and another leak has sprung.
If the journey is to be continued with any measure of success, the leaks must be effectively repaired.
Unfortunately when we arrive at this point, we begin to believe we do not have time to take care of things like the emotional or physical damage. We no longer see choices. We are in survival mode; the fight or flight impulse is in control of our ability to discern the facts, and the decisions we make to navigate the rest of the journey.
This is an emergency response from our body; just as drastic measures are taken in the ambulance after an accident to preserve life; it is only intended to be a temporary fix until the proper one can be applied. The same holds true in the journey of life. If we are to navigate through the trauma of the changes, we must remain lucid and discerning. How do we shift out of the emergency mode and repair the leaks?
Be still; it is time to turn within and find the real captain on the journey, our higher self. This is the Creator within every human. It is always there, always available and can see far beyond our human eyes. The perception at that level is impeccable. The advice will be immeasurably important and accurate.
We must be willing to let go of any bitterness about or judgment of the circumstances. Carefully sort through the baggage you are carrying on the journey. Like any ship with a leak, it is necessary to throw overboard all the cargo not essential to the journey while the leak is repaired.
Cast off the fear, the disillusion, the hopelessness, addictions, jealousy, deceit, defeat and any other baggage you acquired as you attempted to limp along to certain sinking. Our higher self responds to gratitude and faith; heap it on. Don't miss a single opportunity to find something about the situation to be grateful for.
Remove your focus from how to arrive at the next step you can see to a safe and joyful arrival at a real destination. We have to get out of our own way and allow the greater vision to determine the best route to a safe arrival.
You will soon see that a repair happens when your creative forces are turned loose to battle the storms; things now dead will move through the currents and out of your life. Your resistance has caused them to stick to you like glue. That which is not dead can now be free to grow and prosper; creative energy is the light from the soul that filters into our path and allows us to see new solutions. It repairs the leaks in our vessel and allows us to chart a new course that will work, one that can be happy and fulfilling.
If it appears impossible, risky and pointless, it will be your soul that whispers, "Give it a try." This is the hope that filters to us on the path of a sunbeam, the fertile soil that guarantees our ideas will bear wonderful fruit and the magic that makes the journey worthwhile.
