Broken Down In Tiny Pieces - An Opportunity for Healing Transformation

There are many events that may cause us to feel like we have been broken into tiny pieces. Most common is the loss of a loved one or a relationship we felt so secure and happy in we could not imagine it ending. But it did. A succession of hardships can cause us to feel like we have been beaten against the waves. Many times, there is no event. We simply wake up one day and come to terms with the fact that we do feel broken.

This is a sobering experience. Thoughts of suicide may come creeping in. Even if they don't, your world probably appears as though you are seeing through a glass darkly. This is painful; worse, we feel defeated and vulnerable, maybe helpless. This only increases the feeling of being broken.

In Og Mandino's words from 'The God Memorandum,' "You weep for all your childhood dreams that have vanished with the years. You weep for all your self-esteem that has been corrupted by failure. You weep for all your potential that has been bartered for security. You weep for all your talent that has been wasted through misuse. You look upon yourself with disgrace and you turn in terror from the image you see in the pool. Who is this mockery of humanity staring back at you with bloodless eyes of shame? Where is the grace of your manner, the beauty of your figure, the quickness of your movement, the clarity of your mind, the brilliance of your tongue? Who stole your goods?"

The answer to these bleak questions is life. A life we planned to be well lived, gone awry. Dreams that were hammered by a sea of unforeseen changes, love that drifted into a stream of smoke as it slowly dissipated and dissolved into nothingness, or maybe even a fateful call, fraught with emotion, telling you a loved one is forever gone. In some odd manner, it feels even worse when none of these things have happened. You simply woke up one day and felt worthless; life felt hopeless, and there was no apparent reason to cite when others asked you why.

The opportunity found within these walls of pain is revolution; your own personal revolution, better known as transformation. The one certainty here is that no one can truly hug you enough to squeeze the pieces back together again. That solution is a Band-Aid for something that requires surgery. Apply it frequently and understand that it only temporarily stopped the bleeding out of your life energy.

This is a wakeup call from your soul, one that says, "I'm tired, I don't want to waste this journey pretending." It is a call to become conscious in your life journey. This is an opportunity to eliminate all that is dark and negative within you.

The first step in a personal revolution is to build a firm foundation. Discard anything that has been difficult for you to keep believing in; it no longer serves you. Find your own truth about the things that are important to you and embrace them.

If you are at all comfortable with the idea that you have a Creator, reach out and demand to hold hands with your Creator or your higher self for the duration of the journey. This can be a silent request and it will be granted. The moment you do this, you are never, ever going to feel alone again. Someone very powerful will be in your corner cheering your successes and advising you on how to avoid failures.

Gratitude is essential in healing. It diverts your attention away from what is wrong or lacking and onto what is right or good. List even the tiniest thing you can find to be grateful for; read your list several times a day until it is committed to memory. Add to it as things change.

Western culture has taught us to make the servant the master in our lives. We are trained to use the left, rational side of our brain first rather than the right imagining side of the brain. This practice ensures that every part of our life will feel like a business deal concluded. Even if it is successful, it lacks the fire of emotion that ignites us to be excited about whom we are and where our journey is taking us.

The right side of the brain is the creative side, the part of us that really is magical and in touch with our higher selves. It is the place where real, uninterrupted dreams begin; your dreams. Our lives begin to find balance when we allow our imagination, our creativity, to help us make good choices about what we want in our lives. This places the mind in the correct positioning; it is the servant, in service to assist in carrying out your dreams.

Once you are able to reignite the fire of excitement in your life you are on the way to winning your revolution. When you are able to make the right side of your brain the master, you have won.
